Bangalore Water Billing FAQs
Starting April 1, 2026, BWSSB has implemented an automatic 3% annual increase in water tariffs. This policy was introduced to offset rising operational costs and electricity prices without requiring major decade-long jumps.
For 2026-27, the estimated rates (after 3% hike) are: 0-8 KL (₹9.53/KL), 8-25 KL (₹14.97/KL), 25-50 KL (₹35.39/KL), and above 50 KL (₹61.25/KL).
For individual houses, sanitary charges are 25% of the water charge (subject to a minimum of ₹100). For apartments, a flat rate of ₹100 per flat per month is typically charged.
Yes. If you have a domestic borewell, a fixed charge of ₹100 per month is added to your bill. For commercial properties, this charge is significantly higher (starting at ₹500/HP).
The minimum bill for a standard 15mm domestic connection is approximately ₹135 to ₹150, covering the first 8 KL of usage along with fixed and sanitary fees.
Apartments are billed under the Bulk Domestic category. Instead of individual slabs, the total consumption is often charged at a flat rate (approx. ₹22-₹25/KL) or a specialized apartment slab structure.
Properties on sites 30×40 ft or larger must have RWH. Failure to install it attracts a penalty of 25% of the water bill for the first three months, which then doubles to 50% thereafter.
Bills can be paid via the BWSSB Web Portal, the ‘BWSSB’ mobile app, or through BBPS-enabled apps like PhonePe, Google Pay, and Amazon Pay using your RR Number.
The RR (Revenue Register) Number is a unique alpha-numeric ID (e.g., S-123456) printed at the top of your physical water bill. You need this for all payments and complaints.
Report it immediately to your local BWSSB sub-division. BWSSB will typically bill you based on your average consumption of the previous three months until the meter is replaced.
